Dell Richardson

Dell started out as a DJ in the seventies, he ran many rock'n'roll clubs over the years, and the longest-running club was The Clay Pigeon, which lasted 10 years! He was involved in a (land-based) pirate radio station based in North London called 'Radio Memphis'. In those days the station was proud to reach a radius of seven miles, but then again they only had a car battery and a washing line as an aerial !

Dell's break came in '93, when he was asked to run a rock'n'roll show on the London-based Astra satellite station Country Music Radio, the show was called Good Rockin' Tonight. He stayed for 4 years until the station closed. He then moved his show to another satellite station in London called Merlin Network One. Sadly, this station only lasted 7 months!

In '98, Dell was asked by Peter Moore to join Radio Caroline. His weekly show ran for many years on Friday's, until three years ago when it changed to a Tuesday night which suited Dell better. Dell loves his rock'n'roll with a passion!

Dell at the Desk

Karen Richardson

Karen married Dell in 1999, and she's been helping him with the show almost since Dell started on Radio Caroline. She answers the phones, and as a result has got to know many of the regular listeners quite well. Other jobs include looking after the fax machine, and keeping Dell supplied with cups of tea! She was particularly important to the show a couple of years ago, when an accident left Dell in a wheelchair for several months.

Recently Dell and Karen have moved house, and she can now only visit the studio occasionally, but all the listeners enjoy hearing her when she's there.

Roy Williams

Roy is known to GRT listeners as the Professor, because he knows something about everything! He's been a rocker since the early sixties. In the early seventies he was the DJ at the Royalty in London, where he supported many of the greats, and that's when Roy and Dell's friendship began. In the late seventies he started Nervous Records, which has given a boost to the careers of many bands in the Rock'n'Roll and Rockabilly field, including the Jets and the Polecats.

Roy joins the fun at Radio Caroline most Tuesdays, answering the phones, reading the Emails, feeding the fax machine and generally helping out. When there's a live band in the studio, Roy uses his production talents to ensure the best possible sound for the listeners. He also does behind-the-scenes work for the show, and makes many of the professional voice-overs for advertisements that you'll hear on the show, using some amazing equipment that he's paid for out of his own pocket. Thanks Roy!!.
